Written by Dr. C Y Tam, Tuen Mun Hospital
We are all sad upon the death of Dr. TSE Yuen Man, one of our Respiratory Medicine Specialists.
Dr. TSE was a smart fellow since she was young and she was not only outstanding in performance but also loved by her classmates and teachers. She graduated from Chinese University of Hong Kong in 1992 and appointed Medical Officer to Tuen Mun Hospital after her internship. Dr. TSE entered specialist training in 1995 and passed the specialist qualifying examinations in Advanced Internal Medicine & Respiratory Medicine by 2001 & 2002.
She was a Christian, quiet and laconic, but with a heart full of love and sympathy. She was gentle and confident and impressed her colleagues with her humility but profound professionalism. She was both respected and loved by her patients and colleagues but managed these emotions in a professional way but remaining self-effacing.
Dr. TSE was the first medical officer to work in the SARS ward in Tuen Mun Hospital. She was brave and selfless even when she contracted SARS during her service. All her friends and colleagues mourned upon her death and her image will be eternally etched in our hearts.
Hong Kong Lung Foundation, Hong Kong Thoracic Society & American College of Chest Physicians (HK & Macau Chapter) would like to express our sincere condolences to Dr TSE's family. In memory of Dr. Tse, scholarships named after her will be established in due course.
